Arise Therapy provides trauma-focused individual therapy & support groups for adults ages 18 and older.

Typical concerns of the people I work with include managing the effects of traumatic experiences, relationship issues, intense emotions, grief, and burnout. My goal is to support you in creating a sense of internal power and to feel valued and connected with others.

I have a special focus around supporting individuals who have experienced sexual violence and adults healing from the effects of relational trauma in their families of origin, including physical & sexual abuse, incest, neglect, and intimate partner violence.

I have a passion for working with activists and community organizers, mental health professionals and other healers and caregivers. I’m experienced in working with adults navigating non-monogamous, poly, and kink lifestyles. As a Queer person, I’m dedicated to supporting the LGBTQIA2S+ community, including those who are non-binary, gender diverse, and exploring their sexuality and/or gender identity.

My approach to therapy is holistic & integrative, using practices from the feminist-relational model, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), narrative therapy, and somatic (body-focused) therapy. I believe in the importance of mindfulness, radical acceptance, and humor.

  • I believe therapy is inherently political. My work is aligned with the values of harm reduction, anti-oppression, and Liberation & Decolonial psychology. I am sex positive, affirming of sex work, and weight-neutral/affirming of all body sizes.

I believe in intentional spaces and recognize racism, xenophobia, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, sanism, fatphobia, and all forms of oppression to be inseparable from experiences of mental health. I strive towards active engagement in anti-racism in my personal and professional life.

  • EMDR is an evidence-based trauma resolution method that has been shown to be helpful in the treatment of PTSD and other distressing life experiences, as well as anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, depression, mood disorders, dissociative disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, chronic pain & illness, grief/loss, and substance abuse & addiction.

Unlike other trauma treatments, EMDR does not require talking in detail about the traumatic memories or events.
