Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a structured and focused trauma resolution technique that works differently than traditional “talk therapy.” Research has shown that EMDR is effective at processing memories of traumatic or upsetting events and reducing their impact on a person’s daily life. (Learn More)

EMDR Therapy involves focusing on traumatic or upsetting memories from the past while also experiencing bilateral stimulation, which is alternating stimulation of both sides of the body, such as eye movements or tapping on the body with your hands.

EMDR Therapy is currently an accepted treatment method for addressing PTSD and other distressing life experiences. It’s also shown to be helpful for treating anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, depression, mood disorders, dissociative disorders, OCD, eating disorders, chronic pain & illness, grief/loss, and substance abuse & addiction.

EMDR, unlike other trauma-focused therapy methods, does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or memories.
